Earth Hour is drawing near and you would have caught the clips on TV encouraging all to participate.

Would you switch off the lights for just 60 minutes in support of Earth Hour?

Switching off our lights is just one simple action that we can take to show that we care for the planet.  Last year, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) pioneered Earth Hour globally and it reached 370 cities and towns in more than 35 countries across 18 time zones.  For the first time, UMW is moved by this call.

At a corporate level, we would like to encourage UMW operations & employees to be part of Earth Hour by switching off your non-essential lights from 8.30 pm. to 9.30 pm on Saturday, 28 March 2009. Spread the word to your friends and families so they too can be a part of this global movement and fight a worthy cause.

Together, let’s switch off our lights, not our conscience!

Together, we can heal our wounded Mother Earth !
